Trent Grisham went 3-for-5 with two RBIs Sunday as the visiting San Diego Padres topped the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-2 in the rubber game of a weekend series.

Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth added RBI singles for the Padres.

San Diego starter Joe Musgrove (4-0), a former Pirate, gave up one run and seven hits in seven innings with eight strikeouts and no walks. Taylor Rogers pitched the ninth for his ninth save.

Roberto Perez hit an RBI single for the Pirates.

Pittsburgh starter Mitch Keller (0-4) went six innings, the longest outing on the team this year. He gave up one run and five hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

In the third, Austin Nola led off for San Diego with a single up the middle. After C.J. Abrams popped out, Grisham also singled up the middle, moving Nola to second. Cronenworth flew out to right before Machado’s base hit to left drove Nola home to make it 1-0.

Against reliever Chase de Jong in the seventh, Nola reached on shortstop Cole Tucker’s throwing error with two outs. Nola moved to third on Abrams’ double to right, ahead of Grisham’s two-run base hit to right that gave the Padres a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jack Suwinski singled to right with one out and went to second on Tucker’s groundout to first. Perez singled off the wall in right to drive in Suwinski to cut it to 3-1.

San Diego manager Bob Melvin then came out of the dugout. It was unclear what he was arguing about, but Melvin was ejected.

In the eighth, reliever Robert Suarez loaded the bases with no outs — walking Bryan Reynolds and Ke’Bryan Hayes and allowing an infield single to Yoshi Tsutsugo — and was pulled for Tim Hill. Pinch-hitter Michael Chavis’ sacrifice fly to left drove in Reynolds to slice it to 3-2.

San Diego added two runs in the ninth on Abrams’ sacrifice fly and Cronenworth’s RBI single.

The start of the game was delayed about 1:20 because of rain.
