According to officials, at least six people were killed and eight were injured in a fiery multi-vehicle crash at a gas station on South La Brea and Slauson avenues Thursday afternoon.
A black Mercedes was speeding through a red light — without braking — and struck two vehicles in the Windsor Hills intersection, according to video obtained by KTLA News in Los Angles. The vehicles then collided in a fireball that exploded into a gas station. KTLA news reported, ” The cause of the crash was under investigation by the CHP, but Pepi confirmed that the driver is a 40-year-old woman who suffered major injuries while driving “a two-door Mercedes traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on La Brea.” The news outlet also reported that they spoke to a friend of the Mercedes driver and she said she was drinking before the crash incident took place. The friend said she (the driver) was upset due to an argument with her boyfriend.
As reported by the California Highway Patrol, six people were declared dead at the scene, including a body discovered in a burned car.
A pregnant woman and an infant were also killed, as per the police and investigators on the scene.
