Britney Spears first song in six years with Elton John Duet Hold Me Closer
After a six-year break, Britney Spears returned to making music on Friday with the release of her duet with Elton John, “Hold Me Closer.” It is Spears’ first new release since her court triumph in November, which allowed her to be released from the 13-year conservatorship that had been in control of her professional and personal lives. The song is an EDM remake of John’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer.”
Elton John commented on Instram.I’m thrilled with the response to Hold Me Closer! I wanted to do a fun, happy summer track so was ecstatic when Britney agreed to be a part of this song! She truly is an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars and I love her dearly. I hope you all love it! 🌹🚀
“It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time,” she said ahead of the release. “I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me!” Britney posted on social media.
Hold Me Closer and Cold Heart, the Dua Lipa duet that delivered Sir Elton John a global number one hit last year, are of similar musical caliber. This combination won over numerous radio formats and streaming playlists, making Sir Elton’s classics accessible to a younger demographic. It’s expected that Elton is attempting to recapture the enchantment on this follow-up, which likewise combines two distinct musical periods with the two stars singing evocative melodies over glossy disco sounds.
